Computer Science Major, Semester 2
CS-MJ-T-2 · Digital System Design
Major theory · 4 credits.
- Combinational circuits: logic gates, adders, multiplexers, decoders, encoders, parity, Gray code, seven-segment display and comparators.
- Sequential circuits: latches, clocks, flip-flops, counters and registers.
- D/A and A/D converters, DTL and TTL, fan-in/fan-out, noise margin, SSI through VLSI.
CS-MJ-P-2 · Digital System Design Lab

ORIGINAL PRACTICE · NOT AN OFFICIAL QUESTION PAPER
Study suggestions
Original prompts, not exam predictions.
- Logic: Design a full adder from basic gates and verify its truth table.
Answer guide
List inputs A, B and carry-in; derive sum and carry-out and check all eight cases.
- Sequential: Explain why a flip-flop retains state while a combinational circuit does not.
Answer guide
Contrast output dependence on present input alone versus stored state and clocking.
