PHY-M-T-2 · Mechanics
Major theory · 4 credits.
- Frames of reference, Newtonian dynamics, centre of mass, momentum and rocket motion.
- Work and energy, collisions, angular momentum, torque, moment of inertia and rotation.
- Elasticity, fluid motion, gravitation, central forces, Kepler's laws and satellites.
- Simple, damped and forced oscillations and resonance.
- Non-inertial systems, Coriolis force, special relativity and Lorentz transformations.
PHY-M-P-2 · Mechanics practical
Major practical · 2 credits. The source lists experiments in measurement, errors, spring motion, inertia, gravity, viscosity, elastic constants and resonance, and asks for at least ten from the list.
